Yvonne Ofosu-Appiah

Yvonne Ofosu-Appiah is an entrepreneur and an investment professional with over twelve years combined experience having worked across diverse functions within banking and the capital markets industry in Ghana.
Yvonne started her career as a Legal and Compliance Trainee with Barclays Bank of Ghana Ltd. She later joined a team of entrepreneurs to start FirstBanC Financial Services ltd, initially as an Equity Research Analyst. She rose through the ranks and was responsible for setting up key departments and developing and managing investment products. Yvonne was also the key interface for the company’s media engagements on investment issues including initiating and broadcasting the Bulls and Bears program (an investment education program) on Joy FM. She also played key roles on several corporate finance and private equity deals including the acquisition of TV3 Network ltd by Media General Ghana Ltd and the acquisition of Universal Merchant Bank (UMB) by Fortiz Private Equity Fund.

Yvonne is currently the Chief Investment Officer of Wangara Green Venture Capital Company Ltd (Wangara Green Ventures), where she drives the investment process and leads the investment team on making deals in Small and Growing Businesses (SGBs) for financial, social and environmental returns. She was the founding Investment Director of the company and supported with pre-launch activities including deal origination, investment process set up and documentation and supported fund structuring. Prior to this role, she was the Head of Corporate Finance at Ideal Capital Partners and a Regulatory and Monitoring Manager, Compliance with UMB. She was also involved in consulting projects for Actis LLP and Plumis in the UK. Outside of her professional work, she is a business builder and recently exited an FMCG retail business which she owned and operated for 7 years.

Yvonne holds an MBA (Finance) from the University of Cambridge Judge Business School, UK and BCom (First Class honors) from the University of Cape Coast Business School, Ghana. She is a candidate for the CFA Level 3 professional exams and an affiliate member of the International Compliance Association (ICA), UK. She also holds a Certificate in Investment Management Training from the Aspen Network of Development Entrepreneurs (ANDE) and is Lean Six Sigma Green Belt certified. Yvonne serves on Boards for private and public organizations in Ghana and is a member of the Steering Committee of ANDE West Africa Chapter and Chairperson for the Innohub AFIDBA Accreditation Committee in Ghana.

Yvonne speaks on plenary sessions at conferences related to early stage investing, climate finance and other impact related themes across Africa. She is noted for her skills in financial analysis, investment due diligence, product development and strategy, valuation and debt financing solutions. She cares about gender and children issues, environmental impact and economic empowerment.
