Agata Ewa Pawlowska is the Operations Manager for Ghana Liberia and Sierra Leone. She joined the Bank in 1998 in Washington DC as a Senior Economist. In this capacity she worked first in the Europe and Central Asia Region covering several countries in Eastern Europe and later in the Africa Region managing projects in several Sub-Saharan countries and focusing on the private and financial sector development issues. For a few years Agata took on a corporate assignment working with a team that managed IDA15 and IDA16 replenishments. In 2011 she has moved with her family to take-up a field-based position in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia managing a multi-sector portfolio of World Bank projects and analytical work. Since then she has held various field-based positions with increasing responsibility. She was based in Kazakhstan responsible for portfolio of five countries in Central Asia and was a Country Manager for Turkmenistan. Before coming to Ghana, she was based in Manila, the Philippines as Portfolio and Operations Manager covering Brunei, Malaysia, Philippines and Thailand.
Before joining the Bank, Agata worked for an international consultancy firm based in London, UK as well as a lecturer at the University of Lodz in Poland.
Agata holds a PhD degree and MSc in Economics from the University of Birmingham, England and an MSc degree in Economics from the University of Lodz, Poland. She speaks Polish, English and Russian.
She is an avid traveler, so whenever an opportunity arises, she and her family are hopping on the plane or in the car to enjoy the nature, hikes, diving and having fun together.
